Rangpur Defeats Chattogram by an Innings in NCL

Rangpur started the 2024-25 National Cricket League (NCL) with a commanding win, defeating Chattogram by an innings and 81 runs at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura.

After losing the toss, Rangpur declared their first innings at 273/9. Chattogram couldn’t even match that total across both of their innings. They were bowled out for 103 in the first innings, forcing them to follow on, and were then dismissed for just 89 runs in the second innings.

Rangpur’s solid first-innings total was led by opener Khalid Hasan and Mim Mosaddeq. Khalid scored 60 runs before getting out, while Mim remained unbeaten with 55. Fahad Hossain took 4 wickets for Chattogram, while Iftakhar Sajjad claimed 3.

Chattogram’s batters had no answer to Rangpur’s bowling. In 37.5 overs, they were all out for 103 in the first innings, with Saddam Hossain top-scoring with 34 runs. For Rangpur, Shariful Islam, Mukidul Islam Mugdha, Abdullah Al Mamun, Rishad Hossain, and Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan each took 2 wickets.

In the second innings, Shahadat Hossain Dipu’s team couldn’t even reach 100, as they were bowled out for 89 in 32.1 overs. Rangpur captain Abdullah Al Mamun led the bowling attack, taking 3 wickets. Mukidul, Rizwan, and Rishad claimed 2 wickets each, while Shariful took the remaining wicket.

This comprehensive victory gave Rangpur a great start in the NCL season.
