Shubman Gill faces a fine of 12 lakhs
Chennai Super Kings suffered a major defeat at the hands of Gujarat's captain Shubman Gill. He is facing a fine of 12 lakh rupees for slow over rate. The penalty has been imposed by the organizers of the IPL. If the same offense occurs in the future, the fine amount will increase.
Initially, batting first, Chennai Super Kings posted a score of 206 runs on the scoreboard. The opening pair contributed 46 runs each to the innings. Then, Shubman Gill hit five sixes, scoring fifty off twenty balls. Despite aiming high, Gujarat Titans couldn't surpass 143 runs, losing eight wickets against the Chennai pacers. With just two victories, Chennai stands at the top of the table, while Gujarat's Titans tasted the bitterness of defeat after losing to Mumbai in their first match.
After the loss, Gujarat Titans' captain Shubman Gill is also being fined. According to IPL rules, the player and captain of the team are fined for slow over rates. This is why Gill and his team have been fined 12 lakh Indian rupees.
However, this is the first time Gujarat Titans have been penalized for a slow over rate in this IPL. If such incidents happen again, they can expect even stricter penalties.
