Yet another IPL hundred for Virat Kohli
In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli has set a new record as the first centurion. Simultaneously, he now holds the record for the most hundreds in IPL history. Today, while batting against Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Kohli remained unbeaten on 113 runs off just 72 balls. Bengaluru concluded their innings at 183 runs after playing the full quota of 20 overs and losing 3 wickets.
Kohli always keeps the door of records open in front of him. Once again, he proved it. With a brilliant batting display, this Indian batter has now etched his name in Rajasthan's opposition. His unbeaten century scored off just 67 balls seemed like a collection set to fight against odds for Bangalore. In his innings of 113 runs, he hit 12 fours and 4 sixes. Through this innings, Kohli has become the owner of 8 centuries in IPL, a feat no other batsman has achieved before.
Looking back, in the 2016 IPL season, Kohli scored 4 centuries. Additionally, in 2019, he scored 1 century, and in 2023, he hit 2 centuries. Today, he witnessed his eighth century in Jaipur. This performance before the T20 World Cup will surely reignite hope among Indian fans.
Previously, his highest score in Jaipur was only 39 runs. Today, Kohli surpassed this milestone with his century. Having played a total of 239 IPL matches, this batsman has now scored 8 centuries. He currently holds the second and third positions along with Chris Gayle and Jos Buttler, respectively. Gayle has scored 7 centuries, while Buttler has hit 5 centuries with the bat.
