West Indies want to win the series against Bangladesh
The saying "All's well that ends well" seems to be something West Indies' coach Andre Coley firmly believes in. While the Caribbean team has been struggling recently, with their last notable success being a drawn Test series against Australia in January, they are currently languishing at the bottom of the World Test Championship standings. However, Coley is hopeful of turning things around with victories in the final two series of the year, against Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Ahead of the upcoming series against Bangladesh, Coley emphasized the importance of ending the year on a high note. He said, "Ending the year with a victory is very important. We need to bounce back from the disappointment of the South Africa series."
Speaking about the team's preparations for the Bangladesh series, Coley mentioned, "Although the first three to four days were affected by rain, we've had some good sessions in Antigua after that. Everyone is fit and in a good mental state."
After the Bangladesh series, the West Indies will travel to Pakistan for a crucial series. Coley stressed the significance of winning against Bangladesh to build momentum for the upcoming Pakistan tour. "It’s vital that we win this series at home. These are the last four Tests in this cycle of the World Test Championship. So, it’s important to carry the momentum into Pakistan," said the West Indies coach.
It is worth noting that not long ago, Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan on their home turf, but after recent losses to India and South Africa, the visiting West Indies find themselves under pressure. The first Test between Bangladesh and West Indies will begin tomorrow at 8 PM Bangladesh time in Antigua.
