Upcoming Bangladesh-India Series Faces Threats
On September 19, a two-match Test series between Bangladesh and India will commence in India. The second Test is scheduled to start in Kanpur on September 27. However, a religious organization called the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha has threatened to disrupt the second Test in Kanpur.
The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha claims that Hindus in Bangladesh are not doing well. Specifically, they are protesting against the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. They do not want the Bangladesh-India match to take place in Kanpur as a form of protest.
The threats are not limited to Kanpur; there are also warnings regarding the match to be held in Gwalior. The first T20 match of the series is scheduled to take place in Gwalior on October 6. Recently, Xavier Bhardwaj, the Vice President of the Hindu Mahasabha, issued a threat stating, "There has been brutality against Hindus in Bangladesh... temples have been destroyed. Therefore, the Hindu Mahasabha has decided to protest during the India-Bangladesh match in Gwalior."
India's local intelligence agencies have informed the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) about the new threats. The BCCI is considering moving the venue of the second Test to Indore.
During this tour of India, Bangladesh will play a series of two Tests and three T20 matches.
