Bangladesh has etched a new chapter in cricket history by securing their first-ever Test victory against Pakistan. At the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz played pivotal roles in pushing Pakistan onto the back foot. Pakistan, embarrassed by their lowest Test score against Bangladesh (146), succumbed to their fate, as Bangladesh chased down the required 30 runs without losing any wickets.
This 10-wicket victory marks the beginning of the series for Nazmul Hossain Shanto's team. It is also Bangladesh’s largest margin of victory in Tests outside their home country. Pakistan, who played 9 Tests at home in the last 3 years, failed to win a single match.
Pakistan's second innings was halted at 146 runs, largely due to the spin attack of Shakib and Miraz. Mehedi Hasan Miraz claimed 4 wickets, while Shakib Al Hasan took 3 crucial wickets. The bowlers made it clear that Pakistan's batters, with the exception of Rizwan, were unable to challenge Bangladesh's bowling attack effectively.
With just 30 runs required for victory, Bangladesh’s chase was powered by Zakir Hasan and Sadman Islam, who led the team to a comfortable win.
