Chris Jordan became the first English bowler to achieve a hat-trick in international T20s. This was the ninth hat-trick in T20 World Cup history and the third in the current edition within the past four days.
Following Pat Cummins' back-to-back hat-tricks against Bangladesh in North Sound and Afghanistan in Kingstown, Chris Jordan secured a hat-trick against the USA, marking the third hat-trick in this World Cup and his first in international T20s as an English bowler.
Jordan is the second bowler in T20 World Cup history to take four wickets in one over. Previously, Irish pacer Curtis Campher achieved this feat in the 2021 edition in Abu Dhabi, where he dismissed four Netherlands batsmen in a single over.
The USA collapsed from 115/5 to 115 all out within the space of six balls, making it the third instance in T20 internationals where a team lost five (or more) wickets for the same score. The first occurrence of this kind in a World Cup was in 2010 at Gros Islet, when Australia went from 191/5 to 191 all out against Pakistan.
Jordan’s bowling figures of 4/10 are the third-best for England in T20 World Cup history, following Sam Curran’s 5/10 against Afghanistan in Perth in 2022 and Adil Rashid’s 4/2 against West Indies in Dubai in 2021.
