The Process Behind Mahedi Hasan's Success in the West Indies
Shak Mahedi Hasan emerged as the hero of Bangladesh’s T20I victory on West Indian soil. After scoring an unbeaten 26 runs with the bat, he bowled brilliantly, conceding only 13 runs in 4 overs and taking 4 crucial wickets. Mahedi dismantled the West Indies' innings early by dismissing key players like Nicholas Pooran, Roston Chase, Andre Fletcher, and Johnson Charles.
After being named Player of the Match, Mahedi reflected on his bowling performance:
"I focused on bowling straight to the stumps and worked on maintaining my process. I enjoyed this wicket a lot. Playing in the Global Super League before this gave me the confidence I needed."
Mahedi contributed not only with the ball but also with the bat when the team needed it most. He partnered with Shamim Hossain Patwary to forge a 49-run stand off 29 balls. Mahedi remained unbeaten on 26 runs from 24 deliveries, which included 2 fours and 1 six.
Speaking about the partnership with Shamim, Shak Mahedi said:
"Shamim played a fantastic innings. His contribution was very important for the team. I tried my best to support him and build the partnership."
With this victory, Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against the West Indies. The Tigers will aim to secure the series in the second T20I, scheduled for December 18.
