Temba Bavuma to miss second test against Bangladesh
Temba Bavuma missed the first Test against Bangladesh due to injury, and his absence continues as he has been ruled out of the upcoming second Test in Chittagong, which starts on October 29. Aiden Markram led South Africa in the recently concluded Test in Mirpur and will continue to captain the team for the second match as well.
Despite hopes from Cricket South Africa's selectors that Bavuma would recover in time for the second Test, he is still unable to play. The Proteas' medical team had been overseeing his fitness recovery in Dhaka, but unfortunately, he has not been cleared to participate.
As a precautionary measure, Dewald Brevis was already included in the squad as Bavuma's cover. Brevis, who is yet to make his Test debut, has played two T20 internationals for South Africa.
South Africa are currently fourth on the WTC points table and must win at least four of their remaining five Tests to have a chance of making the final.
