Sylhet Strikers Ready for 2025 BPL with Strong Squad and Exciting Fixtures
The 2025 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is almost upon us, and the Sylhet Strikers are gearing up for a highly anticipated season. Despite the tournament officially starting on December 30, Sylhet will play their first match the very next day, on December 31, facing Rangpur Riders at 6:30 PM in Dhaka. They will then meet Rangpur again in Sylhet on January 6, followed by another home game.
This year, Sylhet Strikers have the distinction of playing the most matches at their home venue in Sylhet, with five matches scheduled at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Following their Dhaka and Sylhet legs, the Strikers will head to Chattogram, where they will play three matches at Sagarika Stadium, before returning to Mirpur for their final three matches of the league phase.
For the third consecutive season, Mashrafe Bin Mortuza will don the Sylhet Strikers jersey, continuing as one of the team's pivotal figures. Alongside him, Zakir Hasan and Tanjim Hasan Sakib return after their solid performances in the previous season.
One of the biggest additions to the squad is Zakir Ali Onik, a local talent who will add strength to their batting line-up.
In terms of national players, Ronny Talukdar (the explosive opening batsman), Al-Amin Hossain (the pacer), Arafat Sunny (the experienced spinner), and Ariful Haque (the all-rounder) will be integral to the team’s success. Alongside these names, Nihaduzzaman and Nahidul Islam will fortify the team’s spin attack, which is expected to be a crucial part of their strategy.
On the foreign player front, the Strikers have once again gone for a blend of experienced and exciting talent. Paul Stirling (Ireland) and George Munsey (Scotland) will add depth to the batting. Meanwhile, Rahkeem Cornwall (West Indies) will bring both power-hitting and a handy bowling option. Samiullah Shenwari (Afghanistan) will provide middle-order stability, while Reece Topley (England) will bring his deadly pace bowling to the squad.
