Shivam Mavi, the fast bowler of the Lucknow Super Giants, has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). In a video message shared on social media platform Instagram, Mavi revealed that he will miss this tournament due to an injury he sustained.
In the video, Mavi stated, "I will miss the tournament a lot. I came here with the hope of playing matches for the team and performing well. But unfortunately, I have to leave due to injury."
"A cricketer needs to be mentally strong. If you have an injury, you need to figure out what can be done to return, what precautions need to be taken," he added.
Mavi was bought by Lucknow for ₹6.4 crore in this year's auction. The cricketer last played competitive matches in August 2023. Currently, Lucknow Super Giants are placed fourth in the points table, having won two out of three matches played. Unfortunately, Mavi did not get a chance to play in these matches.
Expressing his hopes for the team, Mavi said, "Our team is quite good. I will support the team with enthusiasm. Hopefully, we will win."
Lucknow Super Giants haven't announced any replacement yet. Their pace bowling department includes Matt Henry, Shamarh Brooks, Mohsin Khan, Navin-ul-Haq, Mayank Yadav, Yash Thakur, Arshad Khan, and Yudhvir Singh.
