Sandeep's Five, Jaiswal's Century, Victory for Rajasthan
Rajasthan Royals maintained their winning streak with a victory against Mumbai Indians. Winning the toss, Mumbai elected to bat first and managed to score 179 runs, losing 9 wickets in their allocated 20 overs. In response, Rajasthan reached the target with ease in 18.4 overs, losing just 1 wicket.
Yashasvi Jaiswal's bat has been shining brightly. The expectations from him were not very high this season, but Jaiswal has shown promise.
Rajasthan's victory against Mumbai ensured their position on top of the points table. However, the fielding has been a concern. Before this match, Jaiswal's highest score was 39.
With the intent to accelerate, Jos Buttler and Jaiswal combined to form a partnership of 74 runs. Buttler scored 35 runs off 25 balls before handing over the reins to captain Sanju Samson.
Jaiswal remained unbeaten with 104 runs off 60 balls, including 9 fours and 7 sixes. On the other hand, Samson scored 38 runs off 28 balls before departing from the crease.
Before this, Rajasthan pacer Sandeep Sharma, returning from an injury, displayed bowling prowess in Jaipur. Sandeep single-handedly took 5 wickets of the opposition. Had it not been for his breakthroughs, Mumbai could have scored even more.
Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav, all fell victim to Sandeep's bowling. Navdeep Saini provided some support with the ball, but the innings didn't get as big as expected. Afghanistan batter managed to score only 23 runs personally.
Later, Nehal Wadhwa joined Tilak Varma to fight back for Mumbai. Trent Boult took Nehal's wicket, scoring 49 runs off 24 balls in 24 overs.
Tilak returned in the last over of the innings. Sandeep's victim was Tilak, who scored 65 runs off 45 balls in the innings' final over. In the same over, Sandeep took 2 more wickets, securing 5 wickets in the innings. This achievement of taking 5 wickets in 4 overs with just 18 runs defines his bowling figures.
