All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin, who did not make it to Bangladesh's World Cup squad, has been picked by the Montreal Tigers for the Global T20 Canada League. Additionally, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has been selected by the Toronto Nationals franchise from the draft.
Following in the footsteps of Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das, Saifuddin and Rishad will be playing in the Canadian league for the first time. Rishad Hossain has been one of the biggest surprises for Bangladesh in this World Cup, currently ranking among the top ten wicket-takers with 9 wickets in five matches.
Rishad Hossain will join notable stars like Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, Rassie van der Dussen, Mohammad Nawaz, and Colin Munro in the Toronto Nationals team.
Meanwhile, Saifuddin’s teammates in the Montreal Tigers include New Zealand batter Tom Latham, Chris Lynn, Sherfane Rutherford, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Naveen-ul-Haq. The team will be led by star batter Chris Lynn in the upcoming 4th edition of the league.
Saifuddin has not had the best of times on the field lately. He returned to action after a long break in the Zimbabwe series before the ongoing T20 World Cup but did not make the World Cup squad. Instead, pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib was selected and has been in great form.
In the recent series against Zimbabwe, Saifuddin took 8 wickets in 4 matches but was not considered for the World Cup. In the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Saifuddin claimed 15 wickets.
