Rajasthan Wins Over Delhi Capitals with Riyan Parag's Innings
Delhi Capitals couldn't match the extraordinary innings by Riyan Parag for Rajasthan Royals. Setting a target of 186 runs after losing 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Rajasthan Royals couldn't be outdone. Delhi Capitals, in response, struggled to reach 173 runs by losing 5 wickets in 20 overs, falling short by just 12 runs.
With a target of 186 runs, Delhi's openers, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, stepped onto the pitch in Jaipur, Rajasthan. While the initial partnership seemed promising, Marsh had to return after scoring 23 runs off 12 balls, falling prey to Nandré Burger. Burger struck again in the same over, dismissing Ricky Bhui.
Delhi faced adversity as Warner, the captain, attempted to lead the innings steadily but fell short, scoring 49 runs off 34 balls, becoming an easy prey for Abhishek Khan. Pant, too, returned after an over, scoring 28 runs off 26 balls, caught behind by Yuzvendra Chahal.
The pressure mounted on Delhi as Jayant Yadav tried to salvage the innings, but his 44 runs off 23 balls weren't enough to secure a win for the team. With only 4 runs collected in the last over, Stoinis and Axar Patel couldn't rescue Delhi.
Apart from Nandré Burger's two wickets, Chahal also managed to take 2 wickets for Rajasthan.
Earlier, Rajasthan didn't start well after losing the toss. They lost their first wicket, Yashasvi Jaiswal, with just 9 runs on the board. The situation worsened as they lost Buttler and Samson with the score at 30 and 36 respectively. Parag stood firm amidst the chaos.
Ravichandran Ashwin also supported Parag well. The spin all-rounder scored 29 runs off 19 balls. Towards the end, Dhruv Jurel added 20 runs off 12 balls, while Shimron Hetmyer remained unbeaten with 14 runs off 7 balls, contributing to Parag's outstanding innings for Rajasthan.
Parag remained unbeaten with 84 runs off 45 balls, featuring 6 sixes and 7 fours in his innings.
