Possible Surprises in the Playing XI for the India-Pakistan Blockbuster, Late Changes Likely in Both Camps
After prolonged uncertainty, speculation, and drama, the much-anticipated India–Pakistan clash has finally been confirmed. The two Asian rivals will face off on Sunday. On paper, it may seem like just another match, but in terms of emotion, pressure, and expectations, this contest always carries a different magnitude. Naturally, discussions are intense regarding the possible playing XIs of both teams ahead of the game.
The biggest question in the Indian camp revolves around Abhishek Sharma. Due to illness, his availability remains uncertain. If he fails to recover in time, Sanju Samson could be seen in the top order. Ishan Kishan has almost cemented his place with consistent performances in recent matches. Tilak Varma appears to be a dependable option at number three, having previously shown the ability to handle pressure in high-stakes encounters.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav is set to anchor the middle order at number four. Following him, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, and Axar Patel are expected to add depth to the batting lineup. The presence of multiple all-rounders strengthens India’s balance. Varun Chakravarthy remains a key weapon in the spin department, while Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead the pace attack, likely accompanied by Arshdeep Singh with the new ball.
Meanwhile, Pakistan enter the contest riding high on two consecutive victories. However, there could be some changes in their lineup as well. Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan are likely to open the innings. The experience of captain Salman Agha alongside Babar Azam will be crucial in the middle order. Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, and Faheem Ashraf provide reliability in both batting and bowling departments.
After being dismissed for a golden duck in the previous match, Usman Khan’s place could come under scrutiny, though he is still listed in the probable XI. In the bowling unit, Shaheen Shah Afridi remains the leader of the attack. Usman Tariq may partner him, while Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah are strong contenders depending on pitch and match conditions. The final decision could be taken just before the toss.
