Pant Joins the 3,000-run Club in the IPL, Sets Record
Rishabh Pant is making his comeback known with an impressive performance after recovering from an injury. Leading as the captain of Delhi Capitals, he has already hit two fifties. On Friday, playing against Lucknow Super Giants, he scored an innings of 41 runs off 24 balls. With Delhi's victory, Pant has secured a place in the list of cricketers who have scored the fastest 3,000 runs in the IPL among the least experienced players.
Delhi achieved the target set by Lucknow of 168 runs with 6 wickets in hand. They were positioned at the bottom of the table. The victory has propelled them a step forward. Pant, along with the batsman Jack Fraser-McGurk, made Delhi's win look easy. Additionally, Pant's contribution led him to the milestone of 3,000 runs.
This achievement adds another record to his name. Pant now ranks third among the youngest cricketers to score 3,000 runs in the IPL. He is preceded by Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli.
When bowler Marcus Stoinis came to bowl the 12th over, Pant hit a boundary on the last ball of the over to enter the 3,000-run club. A total of 25 players have scored three thousand runs in the IPL. Pant's strike rate places him behind only AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle.
Pant achieved the milestone of 3,000 runs in just 26 years and 191 days, with a strike rate of 148.4. Before this, Kohli reached this milestone in 26 years and 186 days, and Gill in 24 years and 215 days. Sanju Samson and Suresh Raina hold the fourth and fifth positions on this list, respectively.
