National Cricket Championship Final: Mymensingh vs. Borguna
The 42nd National Cricket Championship (2023-24) is about to finish. In the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground in Cox's Bazar, Mymensingh District faces off against Borguna District in the final.
This year's National Cricket Championship consisted of three phases: the first round, the second round, and the final. Thirty-two teams participated in Tier 1 and 32 in Tier 2.
In Tier 1, the 32 teams were divided into 8 groups. From each group, one team advanced to the second round. These 8 teams were then split into 2 different groups for the second round.
Borguna, Brahmanbaria, Satkhira, and Rangpur were in one group, while Mymensingh, Kushtia, Faridpur, and Chandpur represented the other group.
From this group, Borguna secured a spot in the final by winning all three matches played. Despite losing one match, Mymensingh advanced to the final by winning the remaining two matches. This marks their third consecutive appearance in the final.
Matches in both tiers were played over 50 overs in the first round. In the second round of Tier 1, matches were extended to 90 overs. However, the final will be a 3-day match, beginning on March 31st and concluding on April 2nd.
In the event of a draw or a tie in the 3-day final match, both finalist teams will be declared joint winners. The prize money for the tournament will be distributed equally between the two finalist teams.
