Against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh's innings halted at a mere 188 runs in the first innings. Despite initially surging ahead by 92 runs, they found themselves in a precarious position, losing wickets early in their second innings during the second day's second session of the Sylhet Test. Sri Lanka finished the session with a lead of 111 runs.
In the ongoing Bangladesh-Sri Lanka Test match in Sylhet, Bangladesh, having won the toss, restricted Sri Lanka to 280 runs. However, Bangladesh's top order collapsed in response. The highest score for the team was only 47 runs, coming from Tajul Islam's bat.
With a lead of 92 runs, Sri Lanka began their second innings, but opener Nishan Madushka lost his wicket, leaving the team at 10 runs. Both Sri Lankan openers, Nishan Madushka and Dimuth Karunaratne, were challenged by the pace of Khalid and Shariful, eventually leading to Khalid dismissing Madushka for just 10 runs in the 6th over.
Prior to that, in consecutive overs, Khalid Ahmed attempted to have Nishan Madushka sent back to the pavilion but was unsuccessful despite using the review system. Bangladesh lost two reviews in the first four overs of the match.
