Mustafiz Earns Praise as Premier Slower Bowler: Bravo
In Tuesday's match, Mustafizur Rahman couldn't deliver as expected, but his place in Chennai Super Kings is no less significant. Even before this match, the team's bowling coach, Dwayne Bravo, had commented on Mustafizur and Matheesha Pathirana. He expressed satisfaction with the Chennai's pace bowling department.
Former West Indies all-rounder Bravo is responsible for coaching Chennai's bowlers. Prior to this, Lakshmipathy Balaji held this responsibility in the 2023 season.
Yesterday, Chennai suffered a loss against Lucknow Super Giants. In the last over, the opposition needed 17 runs, and Mustafiz bowled. However, he had to accept defeat against Marcus Stoinis, conceding a no-ball and allowing him to score in just the first three balls.
Before this match, Bravo had said, "Fizz (Mustafiz) is quite special. His action is very unique. He has a reputation as one of the best slower bowlers in the world. You can't try to coach them too much. You can only share some knowledge and information among them and keep it as simple as possible."
Bravo also went to talk about Sri Lankan young pacer Pathirana, saying, "Pathirana is very special. I call him 'Baby Malinga'. But sometimes I also call him 'Baby Googly'. He's not someone you want to coach. He has natural ability and skill."
Chennai amassed 210 runs while batting first against Lucknow. In response, Lucknow reached the shore of victory with an unbeaten 124 runs by Marcus Stoinis.
