Mominul Haque has set a record for the most catches taken by a Bangladeshi cricketer in Test matches without being a wicketkeeper. He has surpassed Mahmudullah Riyad and has already left behind Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Imrul Kayes, and Shakib Al Hasan.
In the Chattogram Test, South Africa lost their first wicket in the 18th over, with Markram caught while attempting to play Taijul Islam. The South African captain was on 33 runs when Mominul Haque, standing at mid-on, took an easy catch, marking a new record for himself.
Now, Mominul Haque is the Bangladeshi cricketer with the most catches taken without being a wicketkeeper. He has overtaken Mahmudullah Riyad, who took 39 catches in his 50-Test career. Mominul has now taken 40 catches. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who is in third place on the list, has taken 38 catches.
