In a remarkable move, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has opted to reject the luxurious VIP hospitality box allocated for him for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Instead of sitting in the exclusive VIP box, which was valued at $400,000, Naqvi has chosen to watch the matches from the stands with the general public, sharing the excitement of the game with the fans.
The UAE Cricket Board had allocated a special 30-seat VIP box for Naqvi, but in a gesture that has won widespread praise, he decided to forgo the luxurious seating and sell it. His decision is being hailed as a unique way to stay connected with the fans and experience the matches in the same way as the common cricket enthusiast.
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will take place from February 19 to March 9, with matches being held across Pakistan and the UAE. The tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups: Group A—Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh; Group B—Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan.
The opening match of the tournament will take place in Karachi on February 19, where the current champions, Pakistan, will face New Zealand. India will play all their matches in Dubai, with the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash on February 23 being one of the major highlights.
In response to the growing demand, ICC has announced the release of additional tickets for some of the most popular games, including the India-Pakistan match, to allow cricket fans worldwide to enjoy the thrilling action in the stadium.
With the Champions Trophy set to captivate audiences globally, the India-Pakistan rivalry is expected to create enormous excitement among fans, and Naqvi's decision to join the masses in the stands adds a special touch to the ongoing connection between leaders and fans.
