Mohammad Salahuddin Reflects on Bangladesh's Progress Ahead of West Indies Tour

Mohammad Salahuddin, Bangladesh's senior assistant coach, is currently in the West Indies with the team, marking the beginning of his second stint with the national squad. Reflecting on his 14-year journey with the team, Salahuddin acknowledged the significant progress the team has made since his last involvement with the Tigers in the Caribbean.

In a video message shared by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Salahuddin, who now works as the senior assistant coach under head coach Phil Simmons, expressed his excitement about returning to the team. He had previously served as the fielding coach and assistant coach of the national team from 2006 to 2010.

Speaking about his current role and the team’s progress, Salahuddin shared, "The squad now is a bit inexperienced, but what impresses me the most is the enthusiasm and eagerness to perform well. The players are all motivated to wear the national jersey and represent the country. I am also very pleased with their work ethics. After 14 years, I'm back in the West Indies where I started my coaching career, and I can see how far the team has come. We’ve made significant progress since then."

Salahuddin also spoke about his aspirations for the team, particularly in the Test format. "These players have big dreams. They want to break barriers and climb even higher. I believe they will do well, and as a Test nation, we aim to perform at our best."

The Bangladesh team will begin their tour of the West Indies with a two-day practice match against the West Indies Championship XI before the first Test match begins on November 22 in Antigua. The second Test will start on November 30 in Kingston, Jamaica. Salahuddin spoke positively about the team's preparations ahead of the series, saying, "We had a long journey, but once we arrived here, we had some light games in practice, followed by skill-based drills. The facilities here are excellent, and as a team, we are getting ready well."
