Missed a Ferrari by 23 runs: Virender Sehwag congratulates son Aaryavir for 297
Just like his father, the legendary Virender Sehwag,Aryavir Sehwag has been making waves with his aggressive batting style. Following in his father’s footsteps, the young Sehwag has started to shine, with his latest performance in the Cooch Behar Trophy playing for Delhi U-19.
At just 17 years old, Aryavir created a stir by scoring an impressive 297 runs in a single innings. On November 21, at the MCA Cricket Ground in Shillong, Arya faced 309 balls, hitting 51 fours and 3 sixes in his knock. An extraordinary 74.75% of his runs came from boundaries, and his strike rate stood at an impressive 96.12.
He missed out on a triple century by just 3 runs, but his innings has still been widely celebrated. His father, Virender Sehwag, had managed to score two triple centuries during his career – 309 runs against Pakistan in Multan (2004) and 319 runs against South Africa in Chennai (2008).
On his son's remarkable feat, Sehwag took to Twitter and wrote, "Good play, Aryavir. You missed a Ferrari by 23 runs. But it was good. Keep playing, and may you score many more centuries, double centuries, and even a triple century."
Additionally, not long ago, Virender Sehwag expressed that his two sons have the freedom to choose their careers without any pressure to become cricketers. He stated that there’s no pressure on them to follow in his footsteps.
Last year, in an interview with Star Sports, Sehwag mentioned, "My son is 15 years old, and he is already working hard to get a chance to play in the IPL. The IPL has benefited young talents the most. Earlier, no one would notice performances in the Ranji Trophy, and players had a tough time making it to the Indian team. But now, if you perform well in the IPL and showcase your talent, the IPL gives you the opportunity to play for India."
Arya Veer's performance shows he is on the right track and could soon make a mark in Indian cricket, much like his famous father.
