Sri Lanka set a mountainous target of 511 runs for Bangladesh to chase, and the welcome they received in the beginning of their innings was less than favorable. Once again, Bangladesh's batting failed, experiencing a severe collapse with just 37 runs on the board and five wickets down.
Among the five batters dismissed, three returned to the pavilion without scoring a run, with Liton Das being dismissed for a golden duck. The reason behind such a dismal performance from the top order batsmen remains unknown to Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
He stated at the press conference at the end of the day's play, "Everyone was disappointed. When you get out like this, it's not a good feeling for anyone."
Miraz explained further about the self-inflicted shots, saying, "The explanation of such shots can actually tell what the player is going through personally and what circumstances are prevailing at that moment. It's definitely tough at the end. We have to take the challenge. Since we are professional cricketers, the dismissals we've had are certainly disappointing. However, we'll keep trying. Mominul bhai is there, I am there. If we can score a few runs, it will be good for us."
