Bangladesh played with 10 batters (including all-rounders) against Zimbabwe today. However, despite having this many batters, Bangladesh couldn't score more than 157 in Mirpur. Mahmudullah Riyad took the lead in lifting the score after the openers failed.
Bangladesh batted first after losing the toss at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Three changes were made in Bangladesh's lineup today. After the break, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Shak Mahedi Hasan returned to the XI.
Both openers failed. Tanzid Hasan Tamim was dismissed for 2 runs off 5 balls, Soumya Sarkar managed only 7 runs off 7 balls. The next to come, Towhid Hridoy, couldn't score more than 1 run off 6 balls. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto managed to score 36 runs off 28 balls before returning to the pavilion.
However, Mahmudullah Riyad lifted the score. He scored 54 runs off 44 balls before getting out. Shakib Al Hasan contributed 21 runs off 17 balls. Jaker Ali Anik remained unbeaten with 24 runs off 11 balls. If not for his unbeaten innings, Bangladesh would have ended up with 157 runs.
