Middle-order batter and wicketkeeper Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan Ankon has been included in the squad for the second Test against South Africa, which begins in Chattogram tomorrow (Tuesday), replacing Jaker Ali Anik.
The National Selection Panel of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has called up the 25-year-old right-handed batter in place of Jaker Ali, who has been ruled out due to a concussion.
National Team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said, “Jaker Ali Anik suffered a concussion while batting in practice yesterday (Sunday). He has a history of concussions and is still showing symptoms. Given his previous concussion record, his recovery may take some time. Based on medical findings, he has been ruled out of the second Test.”
Dhaka Division player Mahidul Islam Ankon has scored 1,934 runs in 43 first-class matches. In the ongoing National Cricket League, he scored a century (118) in his only innings, playing against Sylhet Division.
