Litton's Strong Batting and the Key Partnership Between Jaker and Ankon
After the lunch break, although Shahadat Hossain Dipu and Muminul Haque fell quickly, Bangladesh's progress was steadied by wicketkeeper-batter Liton Das. Liton played a vital knock of 31 runs, including 4 boundaries and 1 six, before retiring from the field. Following Litton’s departure, the partnership between Jaker Ali Anik and Mahidul Islam Ankon provided stability as they comfortably batted through the rest of the session.
At the close of the session, Bangladesh's total stood at 189 for 4. The batsmen had played a total of 54 overs across the first two sessions of the day. Jaker Ali Anik has made 35 runs off 85 balls, while his partner, Mahidul Islam Ankon, remains unbeaten on 25 runs from 55 balls.
In the warm-up match ahead of the Test series against the West Indies, Bangladesh took to the field to bat first. The team looked promising at the start but soon found themselves in trouble as the opening batsmen struggled. After losing both openers for just 38 runs, Mominul Haque and Shahadat Hossain Dipu provided some relief with their partnership. Bangladesh reached the lunch break at 62 for 2, with both Muminul and Shahadat at the crease.
However, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, who had been playing well, was dismissed for 25 when he was bowled by Justin Graves’ low-length delivery, ending a 47-run partnership with Muminul Haque. Muminul, having settled in, could not carry on long enough to reach a half-century, falling for 31 runs after being caught by the wicketkeeper off Nathan Edwards’ delivery.
Liton Das, who had been playing aggressively, scored 31 runs off 4 boundaries and 1 six before retiring from the field. His departure allowed the young duo, Zaker Ali Anik and Mahidul Islam Anik, to take over the crease. Together, they put on a resilient 56-run partnership, which is the highest partnership of the innings so far, and will resume their innings in the final session of the day.
