The fifth season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will commence on July 1st. Prior to the event, the player auction is taking place today (May 21), featuring names of Bangladeshi cricketers.
However, no teams have shown interest in wicketkeepers Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim. Litton Das had a base price of 30,000 USD, while Mushfiqur Rahim's base price was 50,000 USD. Towhid Hriody did great in last LPL, but no teams have shown interest in him too, his base price was 40,000 USD. Same happened to Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, his base price was 40,000 USD.
Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed picked by Colombo for 50,000 USD. That was his base price. But his bowling partner Shoriful Islam didn't get any team, his base price was 30,000 USD.
Before the auction, franchises have released the list of pre-signed and retained players:
Colombo: Chamika Karunaratne, Thisara Perera, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Nipun Dhananjaya, Shadab Khan, Glenn Phillips.
Dambulla: Dilshan Madushanka, Nuwan Thushara, Dushan Hemantha, Praveen Jayawickrama, Mustafizur Rahman, Ibrahim Zadran.
Galle: Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Lasith Croospulle, Niroshan Dickwella, Maheesh Theekshana, Tim Seifert, Alex Hales.
Jaffna: Kusal Mendis, Avishka Fernando, Charith Asalanka, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Azmatullah Omarzai, Noor Ahmad.
Kandy: Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, Dushmantha Chameera, Kamindu Mendis, Andre Fletcher, Kyle Mayers.
