Liton Das' Comeback: From Champions Trophy Omission to BPL Century with Support from Wife and Shahin

On the same day that Litton Das was excluded from Bangladesh's Champions Trophy squad, he marked a remarkable comeback by scoring a scintillating century in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Litton scored his first-ever T20 century in BPL, achieving the milestone in just 44 balls against Rajshahi. He finished unbeaten on 125 runs, with a blistering strike rate of 227.27, hitting 10 fours and 9 sixes in just 55 balls.

In an emotional post-match interview, Litton credited two significant sources for his incredible form: his wife, Sanchita, and his former teammate, Shahin, who had been instrumental in helping him with his batting technique. Liton acknowledged that his recent exclusion from the national squad was due to poor performances, but he expressed gratitude for the support that played a crucial role in his resurgence.

"Shahin has been like a helping hand for me," Liton said. "Even though he's now with another team, he continues to help me out. He’s been working with me for the last 3-4 years during my time with the Comilla Victorians, and he knows my game well. He’s very capable of identifying what’s wrong with a batter's technique and helping fix it."

Liton emphasized that guidance from anyone, not just a coach, can prove valuable. "When someone helps you during practice, they can pick up on a lot of things that you might miss. Shahin has always backed me, and even simple practice sessions have been very helpful."

The reason behind Liton’s exclusion from the Champions Trophy squad was his extended period of poor form. Even in the ongoing BPL, his early innings were underwhelming, but Liton showed his determination to regain his form. "I’ve been practicing and trying to improve. I think some of it worked in this innings. I did well in my last innings too, though there was an opportunity to score bigger," he said.

Liton’s strong showing with the bat, combined with the unwavering support from his wife and Shahin, provided the perfect response to his exclusion from the squad, reaffirming his potential and commitment to bounce back.
