Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) handed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) a humiliating 8-wicket defeat with a whopping 59 balls to spare in last night's IPL match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
After winning the toss, KKR unleashed a ruthless bowling performance, skittling out CSK for just 103 runs in 20 overs, their second-lowest IPL total ever and the lowest at home. CSK's innings featured only 9 boundaries, with Shivam Dube top-scoring with an unbeaten 31 off 29 balls. At one point, CSK were reeling at 79 for 9, before Dube and Anshul Kamboj provided a minor late resistance.
KKR's spin wizard Sunil Narine starred with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for just 13 runs in his 4 overs. He followed that up with a blistering 44 off 18 balls, striking 5 sixes and 2 fours, at an astonishing strike rate of 244.44. Alongside Quinton de Kock (23 off 16), Narine made light work of the modest target, powering KKR to 71 runs in the powerplay.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh comfortably guided KKR home in 10.1 overs, completing one of the most dominant victories in this IPL season. The win lifts KKR to third place on the points table, while CSK, under MS Dhoni's leadership, suffer their worst home defeat in IPL history.
