Kamindu Mendis: ICC player of the month
Sri Lankan cricketer Kamindu Mendis becomes the ICC player of the month (March, 2024). He was nominated with Ireland's Mark Adair & New Zealand's Matt Henry but won the award for superb performance against Bangladesh.
Kamindu Mendis is the third Sri Lankan cricketer after Prabath Jayasuriya and Wanindu Hasaranga to become the ICC's Player of the Month.
Kamindu Mendis, upon receiving the title of ICC Player of the Month, stated, "I am thrilled to be named ICC Player of the Month. I consider this recognition as an inspiration for my international career. Such acknowledgment motivates us cricketers to work even harder, inspiring us to perform on the field for our team, country, and fans."

After 2022, Kamindu Mendis has once again made a mark for Sri Lanka. The month of March has been like a dream for him. After scoring 68 runs against Bangladesh in the T20 series, he displayed dominance in the Test series.
In the Sylhet Test, he scored runs in both innings, making 102 and 164 respectively. In the Chattogram Test, amidst Sri Lanka's struggles, he couldn't make hundred in the first innings, staying unbeaten at 92 runs, while scoring 9 runs in the second innings. With a total of 367 runs in 4 innings, he emerged as the star performer.
