Jos Buttler doubt for Australia T20Is
The T20 series between England and Australia is set to begin on September 11. There are concerns regarding the availability of England's captain, Jos Buttler, for this series. Recently, he was unable to play in The Hundred T20 League due to an injury. Although he was expected to return this week for Lancashire in the Vitality Blast, he will not be making a comeback.
There is currently no official vice-captain in England's white-ball squad. In Buttler's absence, either Sam Curran or Phil Salt could take on the captaincy. However, England will miss Buttler as a wicketkeeper in the series against Australia.
Since England's loss to India in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in June, Buttler has not played any matches. He suffered an injury while preparing for The Hundred in July, which prevented him from participating in the tournament.
Lancashire’s coach, Dell Benkenstein, confirmed to BBC Radio Lancashire, "We have received some bad news about his playing. He had an injury he was recovering from. He was very keen to play for us."
England T20 squad for the series against Australia: Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Sam Curran, Josh Hall, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Dan Mousley, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, and John Turner.
