Jofra Archer Returns to England Test Squad for Second Test Against India
England have announced their squad for the second Test of the ongoing five-match series against India, with pacer Jofra Archer making a long-awaited return to red-ball cricket. The 30-year-old fast bowler is set to play his first Test in nearly four years, having last featured in February 2021 — also against India.
Archer had been sidelined due to recurring injuries to his elbow and back, undergoing multiple surgeries and extensive rehabilitation. He marked his return to red-ball cricket earlier this season in the County Championship, representing Sussex against Durham. His performance impressed the selectors enough to earn him a recall for the Edgbaston Test.
England claimed a five-wicket victory in the first Test at Headingley and have kept the rest of the squad unchanged, with Archer being the only new addition.
This historic series has been renamed the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, honoring two legends of the game — James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar. The second Test begins on July 2 at Edgbaston, followed by matches at Lord’s (July 10–14), Old Trafford (July 23–27), and The Oval (July 31–August 4).
England Squad for 2nd Test vs India:
Ben Stokes (Captain), Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes.
