Injured Kemar Roach to miss England tour
West Indies pacer Kemar Roach will miss the upcoming England tour due to a knee injury. Cricket West Indies has named Jeremiah Louis as his replacement.
Cricket West Indies reported that Roach sustained the knee injury during the ongoing County Championship. As a result, Roach will miss the three Test matches scheduled in England. Uncapped seamer Jeremiah Louis from Saint Kitts has been included in the 15-member squad.
Roach had been contracted with Surrey for this season, playing six matches so far. His skill and experience in English conditions will be sorely missed. In six matches for Surrey, Roach took 18 wickets at an average of 25.77, including a match-winning spell of 6 for 46 against Warwickshire in his last game.
Jeremiah Louis, 28, brings over a decade of experience in first-class cricket, having played 57 matches for Saint Kitts and Nevis. Alongside Louis, Cricket West Indies has confirmed that 19-year-old fast bowler Isai Thorne from Guyana will join the squad as a development player. The squad will play a warm-up match against a County Select XI from July 3-6 in Beckenham.
