India announce squad for 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup
Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia and spin-allrounder Shreyanka Patil have been included in India’s T20 World Cup squad. Their inclusion in the 15-member squad is subject to fitness. Uma Chetri is the only member of the Asia Cup squad to be left out.
Among the 15 players in the World Cup squad, 14 were part of the Asia Cup team. Only Uma Chetri has been dropped. The Indian selectors have opted for Yastika Bhatia in place of Uma, but her inclusion is also subject to fitness, as is Shreyanka Patil's.
The BCCI has announced the 15-member Indian squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the UAE. Three players have been named as traveling reserves, while two additional players are non-traveling reserves.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur will be accompanied by Smriti Mandhana as deputy in the upcoming World Cup. Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia and all-rounder Shreyanka Patil have been included in the squad, contingent on their fitness.
The tournament starts on October 3, but India’s first match will be against New Zealand on October 4, Friday, in Dubai. They will then face their arch-rivals Pakistan on October 6, at the same venue. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team will play three consecutive matches in Dubai, with their third match against Sri Lanka on October 9. India’s final group stage match will be against Australia in Sharjah.
If India qualifies, they will play their first semi-final in Dubai on October 17. Group ‘A’ includes six-time champions Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Group ‘B’ comprises hosts Bangladesh, South Africa, England, West Indies, and Scotland.
