History and Humiliation at Mirpur: Prime Bank Sets a Record, Shinepukur Suffers Embarrassment

At the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, history was made yesterday as Prime Bank Cricket Club scored a monumental 422 runs in Bangladesh's domestic List 'A' cricket, setting a new benchmark. However, just one night later, the pitch at the home of cricket turned drastically, and Shinepukur Cricket Club faced a humiliating collapse, getting all out for just 69 runs. In reply, Legends of Rupganj, led by Tamim Iqbal and Saif Hassan, chased down the target in style, winning by 10 wickets.

Shinepukur Cricket Club, after losing the toss to Legends of Rupganj, batted first but quickly crumbled to a pitiful total of 69 runs. The state of affairs at this pitch, where wickets frequently fell, was once again proven true. Nearly every batter in the Shinepukur lineup was dismissed in the procession. The team was bowled out in just 25.5 overs, managing to score only 69 runs. Legends of Rupganj, in response, comfortably reached the target in just 9.3 overs without losing a wicket.

In a bizarre twist, the same pitch that hosted Prime Bank’s mammoth 422-run innings just the day before, saw Shinepukur completely implode with a paltry 69 runs the next morning. The highest scorer for Shinepukur was opener Moinul Islam Tanmoy, who made 18 runs. Only three other players managed to reach double digits. Legends of Rupganj’s pacer Rezaur Rahman Raja and spinner Tanvir Islam were the heroes with the ball, each claiming three wickets.

With a steep target in mind, Legends of Rupganj’s openers, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Saif Hasan, took charge with disciplined batting and handed Shinepukur a crushing defeat by 10 wickets, with 40.3 overs still left to play. Saif Hasan remained unbeaten on 39, while Tamim took the game away in a flurry, scoring 35 runs from just 20 balls, including 4 boundaries and a six.
