Dodda Ganesh Loses Head Coach Job of Cricket Kenya in Just a Month
Former Indian cricketer Dodda Ganesh has been dismissed from his position as the head coach of the Kenya national cricket team. He had taken on the role on August 14th of this year, but just a month later, Ganesh has been unexpectedly removed from his post.
Cricket Kenya cited irregularities in the hiring process as the reason for terminating Ganesh's contract. They have deemed the contract, which was signed on August 7th, to be invalid.
Perline Omamo, the Director of Women's Cricket for Cricket Kenya, explained the reason for Ganesh's dismissal in a statement. It read, "Under a resolution passed by the Executive Board of Cricket Kenya on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, and in accordance with Articles 5.9 and 8.4.3 of the Cricket Kenya Constitution, we regret to inform you that the Executive Board has rejected your appointment. Due to the failure to follow established procedures, your appointment as the head coach of the Kenya national team has been nullified."
This sudden decision from Kenya means that Lameck Onyango and Joseph Angara will take over the coaching responsibilities for the upcoming Challenge League in September. Ganesh was initially supposed to lead Kenya in the ICC Division 2 Challenge League this month, where they would face teams like Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Denmark, and Jersey. Following that, there was the T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifiers in October.
