Dhaka Metro Joins Rangpur in the Final After Crushing Khulna
Dhaka Metro advanced to the final of the NCL T20 by defeating Khulna by 38 runs. Chasing a target of 119 runs set by Dhaka Metro, Khulna was bundled out for just 81 runs. In the battle for the title, Dhaka Metro will face Rangpur in the final.
On Saturday, in the second qualifier at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Dhaka Metro won the toss and elected to bat first. After a 40-run opening stand, Imranuzzaman was dismissed for 14 runs.
Despite a double strike by Sheikh Parvez Jibon that caused a mini-collapse, Dhaka Metro captain Naim Sheikh held firm at one end. At 68 runs, Dhaka Metro had already lost six wickets, but Naim partnered with Shahidul Islam to push the total to a competitive level.
Dhaka Metro finished their innings at 119/8 in the allotted overs. Naim Sheikh scored a crucial 57 off 53 balls, including 6 fours and a six.
For Khulna, Parvez Jibon, Masum Khan Tutul, and Mehedi Hasan Rana took two wickets each. Mustafizur Rahman, despite conceding 35 runs in 4 overs, managed just one wicket.
Chasing 120, Khulna suffered an early collapse, losing two wickets before opening their account. Azizul Hakim Tamim and Imrul Kayes both fell for ducks, leaving Khulna reeling at 2/3.
Anamul Haque Bijoy and Kazi Nurul Hasan Sohan tried to stabilize the innings with a 21-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Bijoy was dismissed for 16, while Sohan managed 22 off 18 balls before being sent back.
Late contributions from Parvez Jibon (15) and Masum Khan (16) were not enough as Khulna fell short, bowled out for 81 runs.
For Dhaka Metro, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat claimed three wickets, while Rakibul Hasan and Maruf Mridha grabbed two each. Aliss Al Islam delivered an economical spell, taking one wicket for just five runs in 4 overs.
