Chittagong Kings Clinch Big Win Over Sylhet Strikers, Secure Playoff Spot
In a crucial match for both teams, Chattogram Kings dominated Sylhet Strikers with a commanding 96-run victory, reaching their target of 197 with ease. This win, coming with one match still to go, secured Chattogram’s spot in the BPL playoffs. For Sylhet Strikers, this defeat marked their seventh consecutive loss, leaving them at the bottom of the points table as they wrapped up their 2025 BPL campaign.
Chattogram Kings, with this victory, advanced closer to the Qualifier stage of the playoffs. With 14 points from 11 matches, they currently sit in third place. They are now breathing down the necks of Rangpur Riders, who are just ahead of them. If Chattogram can defeat Fortune Barishal in their next match, they will secure a place in the top two, pushing Rangpur down to third.
Chattogram Kings set a challenging target for Sylhet with a solid 197-run total, thanks to contributions from Shamsuddin Hossain and Khaled. Opening the batting, Khaja Nafees played an explosive knock, scoring 52 runs off 30 balls. Captain Mohammad Mithun also made an impact, scoring 52 off 38 balls. However, after the dismissal of these two key players, Chattogram briefly found themselves under pressure.
But Shamsuddin Hossain and Khaled's quick-fire contributions in the lower order provided the much-needed boost. Shamsuddin scored 38 runs off 23 balls before being dismissed, while Khaled remained unbeaten on 25 runs off 13 balls, adding 61 runs from the seventh-wicket partnership, which gave Chattogram the momentum they needed to set a competitive total.
On the other hand, Sylhet Strikers ended their disappointing season with yet another defeat. Having last won a match 18 days ago, they ended the 2025 BPL campaign at the bottom of the table with a string of losses.
With the ball, Chattogram's pace duo of Shariful Islam and Khaled were exceptional. Shariful Islam claimed 4 wickets for just 5 runs, while Khaled took 4 wickets for 31 runs. Sylhet Strikers were bowled out for just 100 runs in 15.2 overs, handing Chattogram a massive 96-run victory and putting them in a good position on the table.
As the playoff race intensifies, Chattogram Kings are now in control of their fate, while Sylhet Strikers will be reflecting on a campaign to forget.
