Slip catching can shift the momentum in a match. Here lies Bangladesh's lifelong sorrow: the slippery hands of slip fielders. Hence, the momentum does not shift towards the Tigers. In the first innings of the Chittagong Test, Sri Lanka amassed 531 runs. Despite their efforts, Bangladesh's fielders dropped seven catches. Where lies the problem in catching? In response to such a question, the batting coach's answer is not entirely straightforward.

It seems as if fate played against Bangladesh's slip fielders for two consecutive days. Even today, the Bangladeshi fielders appeared lax at the slip. One after another, they dropped catches, creating opportunities for the Sri Lankans to build a significant lead.

At the end of the second day's play, Bangladesh's batting coach, David Hemp, attended the press conference. He was asked about the reasons behind Bangladesh's fielders' predicament. Hemp responded, "Actually, it's quite a challenging task. It's not an easy job. Everyone expects perfection. Everyone wants every catch to be taken. Perhaps, due to such a mindset, the task becomes a bit difficult. We are working on this matter. So that we can catch in such situations in the future."

Today, Prabath Jayasuriya has had two lifelines. First, Shanto-Dipu-Jakir; despite three slip fielders coming together, they failed to catch Prabath Jayasuriya. It seemed like a concerted effort to drop the catch. Unfortunately for bowler Khaled, luck was not on his side. Then, wicketkeeper Liton Das dropped a catch as Jayasuriya slipped beneath. Even with three people together, they couldn't manage to catch. Explaining the failure to catch by three individuals, Hemp said, "Actually, whether it was Jakir or Jay, I don't remember. Dipu had a good opportunity there. When the catch went up, I thought maybe someone would catch it. However, unfortunately, no one could catch it."
