The second match of the series also ended in defeat for Zimbabwe. From the beginning of the traveling team's batting, there are some concerns. These were also discussed at the press conference after the last match. The same sentiment was echoed by the accredited Jonathan Campbell after the end of this match. The team had confidence in this batter, along with the addition of Brian Bennett. Zimbabwe finds joy in the fight between these two.
Zimbabwe failed to start well even when they came to bat . The team lost 5 wickets to score 42 runs. However, Campbell and Bennett's partnership of 73 (43) runs lifted the team, they said. They stopped at 138 runs losing 7 wickets until the end. Campbell scored 45 (24) runs, while Bennett contributed 44 (29) runs.
When evaluating the team's performance, Campbell said, "Actually, we haven't started well once again. We need to work on that in the upcoming matches. I think the way Brian Bennett and I played in the middle overs was fantastic. The 9-10 run overs came. It's a good thing. If the start was good, maybe it would have been even better."
Zimbabwe's poor start is not limited to batting alone. It's evident in Bangladesh as well. Especially, nothing remarkable is found from Liton Das as an opener. Meanwhile, captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto is failing to make big innings. In this regard, Campbell believes that the pacers of both teams have a role here.
He said, "Actually, both teams' pacers are fantastic. Sharif has bowled exceptionally well in the beginning. He swung the ball nicely. Taskin has done the same. He has bowled at a good pace. Both our pacers have done well in powerplay. It's a bit tough to excel in powerplay here due to the extra swing of the new ball. Depending on this ground, whether the team will get good runs or not, it's challenging to chase big runs here."
Complimentary statements about the wicket at Chittagong's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium are usually heard. Even regarding the wickets of the ongoing series, satisfaction was seen among these Zimbabwean cricketers. He said, "Good. A good wicket. Happy with the wicket. Maybe in the upcoming series, there will be big runs. Everyone will understand the conditions better, then there will be even more runs."
