BCCI announces 125 crore INR for world cup winning India team

The BCCI (the board of control for cricket in India) has announced prizes for the Indian team, winners of the T20 World Cup, but the amount has astonished the world. ICC awarded India $2.4 million, equivalent to approximately 204.42 million Indian Rupees. In contrast, the BCCI declared a prize amount of 1.25 billion rupees for the players, coach, and support staff of the victorious team, nearly six times higher!

Just a day after winning the World Cup, ICC declared on Twitter, 'I am delighted to announce a prize of 1.25 billion rupees for Team India, winners of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The team showed exceptional talent, confidence, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement.'

The richest cricket board in the world is India's BCCI, which earns the most from sponsors, television rights, and ICC. Therefore, it was already believed that if India won the World Cup, the board would offer substantial bonuses to the players.

In this World Cup, ICC awarded 280.76 million rupees to champions India and 150.2 million rupees to runners-up South Africa.
