The BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) has now moved to Chattogram after Dhaka and Sylhet. In the first match of the tournament in the port city, Dhaka Capitals opted to bat first but could only manage 139 runs. In their last match, they had registered a record-breaking 149-run victory. However, in this match, they suffered another batting collapse and lost to Fortune Barishal by 8 wickets. A half-century from Tamim Iqbal and an unbeaten 49 from Malan led Barishal to a dominant win with 4 overs to spare.

Chasing a modest target of 140 runs from 120 balls, Barishal lost their first wicket in the second over when Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed. Shanto, who has only scored 56 runs in 5 matches this season, was replaced by David Malan at number three. Tamim Iqbal and Malan then formed a solid partnership. Tamim reached his fifty in 44 balls and looked even more dangerous.

Malan, playing his first match of the 2025 BPL, almost scored a half-century but was dismissed for 49 runs, just one run shy of his fifty. Tamim Iqbal, having led the charge with 61 runs, was dismissed. Following this, Jahandad Khan played a quick cameo, scoring 13 off 4 balls, and Barishal secured the victory with 8 wickets in hand, finishing the match with 4 overs to spare. Malan remained unbeaten on 49 runs from 41 balls.

In the first match at Chattogram, Dhaka Capitals won the toss and chose to bat first. The opening partnership between Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Liton Das started well, but Dhaka's batting collapsed soon after. Liton Das was dismissed for just 13 off 17 balls, caught behind. Munim Shahriar, coming in at number three, was dismissed for a duck.

Dhaka’s Namibian player, Jan Kotze, managed only 8 runs on his BPL debut. Sabbir Rahman scored 10 runs from 10 balls, and the captain, Thisara Perera, was dismissed for a duck. Mosaddek Hossain could only manage 11 runs. The only exception was Tanzid Tamim, who played a lone hand, scoring 50 runs off 39 balls to lead the team's score.

In the 17th over, Tamim was dismissed for 62, which slowed down Dhaka's scoring rate. However, Farmanullah Safi's quick cameo of 22 runs off 16 balls helped Dhaka reach a total of 139 runs. Among Barishal's bowlers, Tanveer Islam was the standout, taking 3 wickets.
