After dismissing Bangladesh for 262 runs in their first innings, Pakistan took a 12-run lead. However, their second innings got off to a rough start, losing two wickets for just 9 runs. Hasan Mahmud struck twice in consecutive overs, dismissing openers Abdullah Shafique and Khurram Shahzad. By the end of the day’s play, Pakistan had a lead of 21 runs with 8 wickets in hand. With two days remaining in the Rawalpindi Test, Bangladesh has a chance to turn the match around.

Liton Das’s historic century provided Bangladesh with a much-needed boost. The morning session had been a nightmare for Bangladesh, as they lost 6 wickets for just 26 runs. Despite this, Liton’s superb innings of 138 runs helped Bangladesh reach a total of 262. His performance was met with a warm reception in Rawalpindi.

Liton’s powerful batting, combined with two crucial partnerships, played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's innings. His fourth career century, along with a 69-run stand with Hasan Mahmud for the 9th wicket and a 165-run partnership with Mehedi Hasan Miraz, nearly salvaged the innings.

In Pakistan’s second innings, they lost opener Abdullah Shafique in the second over. Hasan Mahmud, who had contributed significantly with the bat, also made an impact with the ball. He dismissed Shafique for 3 runs and then removed night-watchman Khurram Shahzad by breaking his stumps.

At the end of 3.4 overs in Pakistan’s second innings, they were at 9 for 2. Saim Ayub remained unbeaten on 6 runs.
