The Bangladesh women’s cricket team, led by captain Nigar Sultana Joty, has departed for Pakistan to compete in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifiers. In the group stage, Bangladesh will face West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand.
Head coach Sarowar Imran, speaking before the team’s departure, expressed optimism about the team’s chances. According to him, the batters have the potential to post challenging scores. This tournament marks Imran’s first assignment as the head coach of the Tigresses.
While speaking at the airport, the coach confidently stated, "If the wicket favors batting, we can score over 250. I believe our batters are capable of doing it."
He also expressed his ambitions of qualifying for the World Cup by winning all five matches:
“We have five matches there. We want to win them one by one. West Indies and Pakistan are two strong teams, but we’re not underestimating anyone. We aim to fight hard in every game and qualify for the World Cup.”
A total of six teams will participate in the qualifiers: Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, Thailand, and host nation Pakistan. The top two teams will qualify for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 in India.
