Bangladesh Announces Squad for Men's T20 Emerging Asia Cup
The Men's T20 Emerging Asia Cup is set to begin on October 18, with Bangladesh placed in a challenging group alongside Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a strong 15-member squad for the tournament, with Akbar Ali, the captain of the U-19 World Cup-winning team, leading the side.
The squad features several prominent players from the national team, including Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Patowary, Naim Sheikh, and Abu Haider Rony, who are expected to make a significant impact in Oman.
As reserves, Sheikh Mehidi Hasan, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Zakir Ali Anik, and Nasum Ahmed have been included.
The pace attack will consist of Abu Haider Rony, Maruf Mridha, Rezwan Rahman Raja, and Ripon Mondol. Batting responsibilities will heavily rely on Akbar, Parvez Emon, Saif Hasan, Naim Sheikh, and Towhid Hridoy. Emerging talents in the squad include batter Jisan Alam, all-rounder Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby, and Wasi Siddiq, while spinner Alis Al Islam has also been called up.
The tournament will commence on October 18, with the final scheduled for October 27. Bangladesh will play their first match against Hong Kong on October 19, followed by matches against Afghanistan on October 21 and Sri Lanka on October 23.
