INDIA TAKE A MASSIVE 227-RUNS LEAD!

In a dismal performance against India in the Chennai Test, Bangladesh faced a crushing defeat, bowled out for just 149 runs. To avoid the follow-on, they needed to score 177 runs in their first innings. Mehedi Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten on 27 runs. With a 227-run lead, India opted to bat again, sparing Najmul Hossain Shanto’s team from the embarrassment of the follow-on.

Bangladesh went into tea with 8 wickets down, needing another 65 runs to avoid the follow-on. It didn’t take long for them to lose the remaining wickets. Jasprit Bumrah bowled Taskin Ahmed for 11 runs with a yorker, while Bumrah was in pursuit of his five-wicket haul. The final wicket fell when Nahid Rana was bowled by Mohammed Siraj.

Nahid came in as the last batter, joining Mehedi Hasan, who was fighting a lone battle. However, Nahid was bowled by Siraj, leaving Bangladesh at 149 runs, 227 runs behind India’s first innings total.

Out of the ten wickets lost, eight fell to pace bowlers, with Bumrah taking the most wickets (4). Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep took 2 wickets each, while the remaining wickets were claimed by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

In their first innings, India scored 376 runs in 91.2 overs, bolstered by a century from Ravichandran Ashwin and fifties from Ravindra Jadeja and Yashasvi Jaiswal. After Hasan Mahmud’s five-wicket haul and Taskin’s three wickets dismissed India, Bangladesh quickly fell into trouble, losing three wickets shortly after the lunch break. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim were dismissed soon after lunch, and while Shakib and Liton attempted to stabilize the innings, they too failed to build a substantial partnership like their teammates.
