Arshdeep Singh enjoys the highs and lows with a simple life mantra: ‘Kal ka Kal dekhenge…’
Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm pacer considered the future leader of the Indian cricket team's pace attack, has participated in two T20 World Cups over the past three years. With another World Cup approaching in 2026, what are his thoughts on the future?
Ahead of the second T20 match against Bangladesh, Arshdeep addressed the media, sharing that he prefers to focus on the present rather than dwelling on the future.
"I want to enjoy my cricket. That's how the last two years have gone by. My mantra in life is to enjoy the present. If today is my day off, I will enjoy resting all day. What happens tomorrow will be seen tomorrow. The T20 World Cup is two years away; there's still a long way to go. I don't want to think too much about the future," he stated.
The second T20 match between Bangladesh and India will take place in Delhi, where high-scoring games have been common, with 200-plus runs in several innings during the 2024 IPL. When asked about the pressure on bowlers in such high-scoring contexts, Arshdeep responded, "There were no matches for Punjab Kings here last season, but I've seen the scores. I didn’t feel the need to inspect the wicket beforehand. We’ll need to quickly adapt to the conditions tomorrow and strategize. The coach and captain will guide us based on the wicket."
He added, "No matter what format I get a chance in, I want to give my best. Quickly adjusting to conditions and the field is essential. This helps players enhance their skills and understand different ways to take wickets and handle pressure. Each format has its unique challenges. In red-ball cricket, you learn patience over many overs, while in T20s, you have to focus on performing better without relying too much on patience."
