In a BPL match at Chattogram, Tamim Iqbal, the captain of Fortune Barishal, made headlines with several incidents during the game. While batting, Tamim exchanged heated words with Sabbir Rahman of Dhaka Capitals. After the match, he also refused to accept the Player of the Match award during the post-match ceremony.
During the match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, former Bangladesh opener and Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal was heard on the stump mic making comments aimed at Sabbir. "Sabbir, don’t come at me. Didn’t you see what happened to the one who tried that?" Tamim was heard saying.
The situation didn’t escalate into an unpleasant confrontation, thanks to the intervention of Dhaka’s captain Thisara Perera and the umpires. Perera stopped Sabbir, who was running from the boundary, to ensure no unpleasant scene occurred during the game.
After the match, Tamim Iqbal did not accept the Player of the Match award from BCB President Faruk Ahmed, who appeared to take some time to approach the stage. It was reported that Faruk had tried to call Tamim to the stage, but Tamim was unwilling, leading to Nazmul Hossain Shanto accepting the award on his behalf.
According to sources from the Fortune Barishal franchise, after defeating Dhaka Capitals by 8 wickets, Tamim had left for the award ceremony with his son, Arham Iqbal, at the right time. Although Tamim was present on time, the BCB president delayed his arrival at the ceremony. As a result, Tamim chose not to attend the award distribution.
