The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the list of foreign players for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft. Eight Bangladeshi cricketers have secured spots in the draft. The PSL Players Draft will be held on January 11 in Gwadar, a port city in the Balochistan province of Pakistan.
The eight Bangladeshi cricketers included in the draft are: Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahmudullah Riyad, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Rishad Hossain, Tanzeem Hasan Sakib, and Towhid Hridoy. They have been placed in the top two categories of the PSL draft, Platinum and Diamond.
The PSL Draft will take place in Gwadar, in Pakistan's largest province, Balochistan. A total of 510 cricketers from 19 countries have entered the draft for this season.
Ahead of the draft, each franchise is allowed to retain a maximum of 8 players. Following this rule, current champions Islamabad United, two-time champions Lahore Qalandars, and 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators have each retained 8 players. On the other hand, Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi have each retained 7 players.
Other notable foreign players in this year’s draft include David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Finn Allen, Tim Southee, Rassie van der Dussen, Evin Lewis, and Mohammad Nabi.
Typically, PSL takes place between February and March, but due to the Champions Trophy being scheduled at the start of the year, the PCB has planned to hold the tournament from April 8 to May 19.
The PSL Draft and the subsequent tournament offer Bangladeshi cricketers a significant opportunity to advance in international cricket and showcase their skills on the global stage.
